“The soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners so that no one could swim away and escape. But the centurion kept them from carrying out their plan because he wanted to save Paul, so he ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. The rest were to follow, some on planks and some on debris from the ship. In this way, everyone safely reached the shore.”

Jesus had spoken to Paul and told him that he was to go to Rome and preach. The devil put many obstacles in his way, but the Lord got Paul through all of them, and encouraged him along the way. So it is with me. I can get discouraged, and it can be hard to wait on the Lord, but I can’t let that happen. I have to be patient and ask Jesus to give me encouragement.
